a few learnings...observations...

was supposed to pen these down yest, as yest evening was da time of da trail...but then slept off...'n now that i had to neway wait 4 da dryer to finish its 45 min cycle, thought its as gud a time as i will get to write....so here i am... :D
Yesterday evening, I 'n my colleague went out for this walk on the provo river trail, which starts from right beside whr we stay 'n goes on for ard 5.5 miles, along the provo river. Well we were discussing, rather comparing here(US) 'n thr(back home)....well i am lazy to write all that we discussed....but would like to pen down a view change that i underwent, during the course of our conversation...
Well hitherto now....had nvr understood why ppl always form their own mini-telugu/tamil/hindi/malyalam communities....those frm IT background will be familiar with what i am talking abt...had always wondered why..('coz being myself a kannada speaking person....had nvr seen ne kannada groups) but now i know why....
When a human being is in a place away from his home among outsiders/strangers and comes across another person who is also from his place...thrs such a bonding...'n you kinda feel 'now you can be yourself...' 'n yourself may refer to speaking in the same native language or culture/habits/norm...
Had observed how ppl who are not fluent in english/more comfortable in their native language, always mingled with their own language ppl...so had kinda drawn the conclusion that, that was the main reason for all the groupisms...
But now that i myself am away from home....i realize thts not the main reason...basically its just
'birds of same feather flock together'.... :)

so now i understand why when two tamilians meet in b'lore....both away frm their native place....living among strangers, diff language....all tht home feeling comes rushing in 'n they immediately start talking in tamil.....
But what still totally pisses me off, is when another person who doesnt understand tht language is present...its kinda expected that you speak in a language known to all....'n in a business environment, whr the communication language is 'english'....u speak that.... not hindi...not tamil....not telugu....!

Well that was one thing 'n another thing i realized was....in a sad way that realy not many girls are into tech, linux 'n stuff.... :( Yesterday came across this really nifty stuff on web, called 'me.dium'(check out my other blog, will be updating soon with all the new gr8 stech tuff i found recently), 'n i was sending invites to ppl....'n i realized that all the ppl were guys 'n cudnt think of any friend(girl) of mine who wud be interested in such stuff.... 'n to the invites....one of my friend replied asking...whr do i come up with such stuff frm...'n wht do u call a she-geek...?

now i know 'm no geek....but then now i seriously cant blame ne of the guys in thinking tht i am an alien character...certainly feel like one now.... :(
